Welcome to Sri Lanka! Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you'll be greeted by our representative and transferred to Anuradhapura (approximately 4 hours). After checking in at your hotel, enjoy some leisure time to relax and acclimate.
After breakfast, explore the ancient city of Anuradhapura, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Visit sacred sites including the Sri Maha Bodhi (sacred fig tree), Ruwanwelisaya Stupa, and Isurumuniya Temple. In the evening, witness the breathtaking sunset at Tissa Wewa reservoir.
Visit Mihintale, the mountain where Buddhism was first introduced to Sri Lanka. Climb the 1,840 steps to reach the summit and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. After lunch, proceed to Polonnaruwa (approximately 2.5 hours), the second oldest kingdom of Sri Lanka.
Discover the medieval capital of Polonnaruwa, another UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the well-preserved ruins including the Royal Palace, Gal Vihara rock statues, and the Parakrama Samudra (Sea of Parakrama) reservoir. In the afternoon, enjoy a safari at Minneriya National Park to witness elephants in their natural habitat.
After breakfast, head to Sigiriya to climb the iconic Lion Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Sri Lanka's most spectacular landmarks. Admire the ancient frescoes, mirror wall, and the stunning views from the summit. In the afternoon, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, another UNESCO site with its impressive cave complex filled with Buddha statues.
Explore Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka. Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, which houses a tooth of the Buddha, and stroll through the beautiful Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. In the evening, enjoy a traditional cultural dance performance.
After breakfast, enjoy some leisure time in Kandy. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have the opportunity to visit a local spice garden or gem museum.
